Deva is a devotional reading app. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use it.
The short version Deva does not collect your data. It has no servers, makes no network requests, and contains no analytics, advertising or tracking of any kind. Everything you do in the app stays on your device.
What is stored on your device Deva saves the following locally, so the app remembers where you were:
Your reading position in each book Bookmarks and favourites Reading preferences — language, font size, page theme, display mode Chant session history and counts A name, if you choose to give one, so the app can greet you This information is written to your device’s own app storage. It is never transmitted anywhere, because the app has no ability to transmit anything.
About the name When you first open Deva it offers to take a name and a preferred language, so it can greet you and open books in the script you read. Both are optional — there is a Skip button, and nothing in the app depends on either.
Deva has no accounts and no login. There is no registration, no sign-in, no password and no email address; none is requested anywhere in the app. The name is a word stored on your phone, nothing more, and you can change or clear it in Settings at any time.
Reading never requires any of this. Every book, bookmark and chant feature works in full on a first launch, offline, without entering anything.
What Deva does not do No accounts, no login, no passwords, no email addresses No analytics or crash reporting No advertising or advertising identifiers No location, contacts, camera, microphone or photo access No third-party SDKs that collect data No cookies or web tracking No sharing or selling of information, because none is gathered Deva requests no system permissions at all. If your phone ever asks Deva for permission to something, that is not this app.
Children Deva collects nothing from anyone, children included.
Removing your information Clearing the name in Settings removes it. Deleting the app removes everything it stored. There is no separate deletion request to make, because no copy exists anywhere else.
Devotional content The devotional texts in Deva are traditional works. Where a text has not yet been verified by a human reviewer it is marked in the app as sample or unreviewed content. Please treat anything so marked as provisional rather than authoritative.
Changes If this policy changes, the revised version will appear here with a new date.
